Scientific product development and personalized nutrition, built with rigor.

Elsuma helps health brands, founders, and thoughtful individuals make better supplement and health-product decisions through evidence review, formulation judgment, and tailored next steps.

Scientific training, product work, and decision-ready research

Elsuma is led by Elena Vayndorf, PhD, a biomedical scientist and product formulator whose background spans university research, supplement development, and scientific decision support for harder product and nutrition questions.

  • 15+ years across academia, scientific review, and product strategy
  • 30+ supplement products across gummies, capsules, liquids, and functional foods
  • Publications in journals including Science, Cell, and Geroscience

Services

Elsuma’s work shows up in two main ways: tailored nutrition guidance for individuals and scientific product support for founders and teams.

For tailored support

Personalized Nutrition + Testing

For people who want clearer supplement and nutrition decisions than generic advice can provide, with testing incorporated where it is useful and appropriate.

For products and brands

Scientific Product Development

Scientific product strategy, formulation review, and evidence pressure-testing for founders who want to catch weak logic before it costs more time, money, or credibility.

Approach

How the work is approached

Good decisions usually start the same way: clarify the real question, review the evidence, weigh the tradeoffs, and turn that review into a recommendation you can actually use.

  • Start with the brief, goals, context, and real constraints.
  • Review the evidence, ingredient logic, or available data that actually matters to the question.
  • Turn that review into a recommendation, memo, or next-step plan.
  • Refine only when additional work meaningfully improves the decision.
  • Human review stays central.
  • Testing is used when it helps, not by default.
  • Partners support fulfillment, manufacturing, or implementation where relevant.
  • Detailed personal information belongs in a more private next step when needed.

Selected work

Recent work includes product-development support for public consumer brands, formula reviews that call out weak science before it gets expensive, and research briefs that turn difficult questions into usable decisions.

  • ZapCramp: concept translation, formulation direction, and prototyping support for a fast-acting cramp-relief tablet.
  • AND SPECIES: formula refinement, ingredient-tradeoff review, and positioning support for a foundational nutrition drink.
  • Hashimoto’s formula review: a redacted report showing how capsule count, underdosing, and bioavailability can quietly weaken a formula.

Founder and philosophy

Elsuma is led by Elena Vayndorf, PhD, a biomedical scientist and product formulator whose work has spanned university research, supplement development, scientific review, and cross-functional product strategy.

Her background includes a PhD in Toxicology from Cornell, senior research work at the University of Washington, Chief Scientific Officer experience, and product-development work across more than 30 supplement products in gummies, capsules, liquids, and functional foods.

Choose the next right step

If you want tailored nutrition support, start with intake. If you’re evaluating a formula, product concept, or health-product question, start with a project inquiry.
